The Civil War is grinding down and the Confederacy, short of men and under great pressure from U.S. Grant's Army of the Potomac, is in desperate straits. But, suddenly the leadership of the South sees a possible solution. An experienced and very successful spy is sent into Washington to kidnap President Lincoln and bring him to Richmond, where he will be held in exchange for the thousands of Rebel prisoners of war held in Northern prison camps. With these desperately-needed troops and a politically destroyed Union President, the war can be dramatically turned around for the Confederacy. Fortunately, the young lieutenant in the Northern spy organization is able to foil the efforts of the Rebels. The Richmond Exchange received a Silver Medal from Global Book Awards Here's what some reviewers said . . .
. . . This compelling book is well-layered with skillfully developed plot lines and interwoven with fact-based historical tidbits. . . . It is a tribute to the author that we are in suspense through the last page, although we all know President Lincoln's ultimate fate. F.J. Bowman is the John LeCarre of the American Civil War!
. . . Forest Jackson Bowman has written and published a great new Civil War novel! He has crafted a desperate tale about the South's attempt to win the war by kidnapping and holding President Lincoln in exchange for Rebel prisoners. Jack's intimate knowledge of Civil War history, the 1865 layout of the cities of Washington DC and Richmond VA, the complexity of espionage, the mechanics of period firearms, and the charms of cunning beautiful ladies has enabled him to narrate a spellbinding story that just gets better and better as the pages zip by!
. . . Excellent reading! Another captivating and intriguing book by Mr Bowman. I enjoy reading his books and look forward to the next
