Leon Robertson works as a maintenance worker. He fixes things like ceiling stains and broken walls at Whitmore Medical Complex. Leon Robertson also has lymphoma, which's a kind of cancer and the doctors say he only has about six months to live. One day a man with teeth offers Leon Robertson an injection in a locked room. The man calls it nanocell architecture but Leon Robertson cannot find any information about it in medical books. Leon Robertson decides to try it
Leon Robertson does not think he will survive the night.. Three days later he wakes up and his pain is gone. The cancer is not getting worse. He can feel something strange moving under his skin. The nanocells are not a medicine. They are an old technology from another world like seeds that can connect with living things and change them.
What happens to Leon Robertson is very strange. He can feel things that he could not feel before like the energy in the air. He can touch things. Know what is inside them like the wires in a wall. He can even understand the cells in peoples bodies. Ramcore Corporation, the company that made the nanocells wants to control Leon Robertson because he is very valuable to them. A scientist named Harlan thinks Leon Robertson can help him. The government wants Leon Robertson to tell them what he knows.. There are other people who have the nanocells and they think Leon Robertson can help them too.
Leon Robertsons journey takes him to places from the hospital where he works to a deep underwater room in the Pacific Ocean. He meets people, including a little girl named Mei who needs the nanocells to get better. Leon Robertson has to ask himself can he still be a person if he is not fully human anymore?
The story of NANOCELL: THE ALIEN WITHIN is about Leon Robertson, a man who did not want to be special. He has to deal with his body the company that wants to own him and the strange connection he feels to something bigger than himself. With the help of his dogs Ghost and Kilo and some friends he meets along the way Leon Robertson learns that the nanocells are not bad. They are actually helping him. The nanocells are like a partner, to Leon Robertson, not an enemy.
