Why do so many of the defining challenges of contemporary life persist despite unprecedented knowledge, capability and technological power?
Fragmented sense-making, weakened meaning, institutional drift, unsustainable systems and the growing gap between what humanity can do and what it can responsibly carry may look like different problems. Reconstruction argues that they share a deeper condition: a crisis in how human beings participate in reality, and in the capacities required to do so meaningfully and responsibly.
This book introduces the Reconstructive School, a philosophical and developmental school of thought built around that problem. It begins from a simple premise: human beings enter realities already underway. We inherit languages, relationships, meanings, institutions, histories and consequences we did not create, yet through our participation we continually contribute to what those realities become.
The Reconstructive School identifies five interconnected crises of participation: sense-making, Being, sustainability, meaning and capacity. Drawing together more than a decade of Ashkan Tashvir's work, the book establishes the architecture through which these crises can be understood in relation to one another.
It follows reconstruction across the human being, relationships, organisations, institutions and civilisation, and introduces the Reconstructive Apparatus as a disciplined way of examining inherited realities, identifying what no longer supports meaningful participation, recognising what still does and considering what responsible renewal may require.
At its centre is a distinctive understanding of capacity: not merely what people know or can do, but what they can perceive, understand, embody, sustain and responsibly carry.
The Reconstructive School invites a continuing inquiry into participation, flourishing, responsibility and stewardship.
We inherit worlds already underway. The question is not whether we reconstruct them, but how, and what we must become capable of carrying as we do.
RECONSTRUCTION follows Tashvir's best-selling books BEING, HUMAN BEING, METACONTENT and SUSTAINABILISM.
