Kicking things off in Helmsley on the wettest day of the year, Paul assumes things can't possibly get worse. Enter Storm Francis, stage left. Accompanied by his long-suffering (and suspiciously well-prepared) friend Rob-who carries most of the gear, does most of the cooking, and probably regrets all his life choices-they get lost, sunburned, blistered, and nearly blown off the cliffs. Good times.
But this isn't just about soggy socks and questionable map-reading skills. Along the way, Paul dives into pirate legends, eccentric inventors, and some of Yorkshire's most bizarre history. Discover the unluckiest house in Yorkshire, what on earth Mick Hucknall has to do with Whitby, and the tale of a modern-day sailor who somehow managed to steal his own boat.

Paul was born and raised in Hull, Yorkshire-a place so magnificent it took him years of globe-trotting to realize he should've just stayed put. After visiting some of the world's most exotic locations, he finally had an epiphany: nowhere beats the weird and wonderful charm of England. Now, he spends as much time as possible trudging around the country, uncovering its bizarre and fascinating history, and encountering a delightful mix of interesting, eccentric, and occasionally downright questionable people. This is Pauls second book, following up on '54 Degrees North', which saw Paul, Rob and Chris walk in a straight line across England at that exact latitude just for the fun of it. His other books include Coast to Coast, Hadrian's Wall Path and A Walk on the Wild Side.
