Five years have passed since John and his fellow demigods survived their last deadly tournament. They have grown older, their lives have changed, and some of the people who once fought beside them are gone. But when the tournament calls them back, John, Destiny, Ho Young, Talitha, Kiira, and the others discover that what lies ahead may be more dangerous than anything they have faced before.
Their mission sounds simple: recover three forbidden books.
Nothing about finding them is simple.
The books are hidden across three deadly realms, each protected by ancient forces and creatures that have kept others from reaching them. Their journey takes them into the mysterious land of the Dark Elves, through the legendary Garden of Eden, and into the frozen wilderness of Antarctica, where violent supernatural winds, dragons, demons, hidden tunnels, enchantments, and deadly traps stand between the demigods and their objective.
John has grown far more powerful since the earlier tournaments. As a descendant of Aeolus, he can command the wind, fly, teleport, and use his abilities in ways that make him one of the team's greatest weapons. But power alone will not guarantee survival. Some enemies cannot simply be overpowered, and some places are specifically designed to turn a demigod's own abilities-and weaknesses-against them.
Destiny, the daughter of Thor, fights alongside John with extraordinary abilities of her own, including flight and control over lightning. Together with the rest of the demigods, they must confront monsters, giants, Dark Elves, powerful magic, and beings whose existence reaches beyond the world they thought they understood.
The danger does not end with their search for the books.
Behind the tournament, a much larger conflict is developing. Lucifer is gathering the Titans against the deities, threatening to seize control of the tournament and ignite a supernatural war. Odin begins preparing the gods for what is coming, calling upon Zeus, Thor, Gaia, and other powerful beings connected to the forces of lightning, thunder, storms, earth, and the heavens.
At the same time, another terrifying competition-the Game of Life-raises the stakes beyond the demigods themselves. Decisions made within the games can carry consequences into the human world, placing innocent lives and entire nations in danger.
The quest also carries a deeply personal cost. The surviving demigods are no longer the same people who entered their first tournament. Death, friendship, love, betrayal, and grief have followed them from one battle to another. John and the others must live with the memories of those they could not save while knowing that every new mission could take someone else from them.
And every forbidden book they recover brings them closer to discovering that their tournament is only one piece of something much larger.
Filled with Greek, Norse, Egyptian, biblical, and supernatural mythology, The Quest for the Forbidden Books combines fantasy, action, adventure, humor, friendship, tragedy, powerful gods, terrifying creatures, and high-stakes battles into a journey across worlds and legends.
Three forbidden books.
Three deadly destinations.
A war among supernatural powers is approaching.
And for John and the demigods, survival has never been guaranteed-because everything has a price.
