It was meant to be a simple task for former Army Ranger, Matthew Storms. Fly to Kenya, resolve a minor issue affecting the nonprofit organization he worked for, and then return home to sort out the rest of his life. So how had he become entangled in a desperate race through East Africa to save kidnapped members of a U.S.-based charitable foundation from a rogue cell of al Qaeda terrorists? And what should he make of rumors circulating that the terrorists are negotiating the purchase of weapons-grade plutonium? None of this was really his affair. He had no legal jurisdiction in Africa. Let African law enforcement or the FBI's new international Legal Attaché team handle it. Hadn't one of the FBI's Assistant Directors personally ordered him off the pursuit - even threatened to have him arrested? Matt had sworn to never harm another individual following his military discharge. He'd committed himself to helping the poor and forgotten throughout the world. Still, Matt knows he has no choice but to persevere. One of the hostages is a former college sweetheart - someone he never really stopped loving. And Matt has finally realized that she is the missing link in his desperate search for inner peace and happiness. Time is running out. Matt will need to make his move soon. But there is one very serious problem. Through all the covert military operations of his previous Army Ranger career, never did Matt face anyone as dangerous as the leader of the al Qaeda group that now holds the hostages. And all the knowledge, skill and training from his past might not be enough to defeat the evil Haidar bin-Ayaz, better known to his enemies as Shaytan - the devil.
