Psyche is a play written by Jean Baptiste Poquelin, better known as Moliere, in 1671. The play is a comical adaptation of the ancient Greek myth of Cupid and Psyche. It follows the story of Psyche, a beautiful princess who is loved by Cupid, the god of love. However, she is forbidden from seeing him by her jealous sisters who convince her to betray Cupid's trust. As a result, Psyche is punished by Venus, the goddess of love, and must complete a series of impossible tasks in order to prove her love for Cupid and win him back. The play is divided into five acts and features a variety of colorful characters, including Cupid, Venus, Psyche's sisters, and a host of other gods and goddesses. Moliere's adaptation of the myth emphasizes the themes of love, jealousy, and redemption, and is known for its witty dialogue and satirical commentary on French society.Overall, Psyche is a classic play that continues to be performed and studied today. It is an excellent example of Moliere's comedic style and his ability to adapt ancient myths for a contemporary audience.Note: Translated Into English Prose.
