Plutus is a comedic play written by the ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes. The play is set in Athens and follows the story of a blind man named Chremylus who seeks the help of the god Hermes to regain his sight. With the help of his servant Cario, Chremylus is able to find the god and convince him to grant his wish. However, when Chremylus regains his sight, he discovers that the god Plutus, who is the personification of wealth, has also regained his sight. This leads to a series of comedic events as Chremylus and his friends attempt to redistribute wealth in Athens and challenge the social order. The play satirizes the corrupt nature of wealth and power and criticizes the Athenian society of the time.
