A story of a future people of Earth. A place with hope, prospects, and a tenuous but foreseeable future. A system of governance and law binds the future together. A place of single-party politics, rationed resources, and community. The varied people of the capital join together to tell the composite story of their lives. Beyond the Ash and Dust brought by the eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera and the broken world a new world has risen. This is the story of that world. As told by those who live in it. As the back of the book --As The Foundation Myth Tells: Once upon a time the Queen of Swords loved the Bachman King. And into his Court she brought the Street Princess to be sheltered by the King. As the conflicts of the era came to a close the Queen would join hands with the Fire-Stalker and leave the Coastal Kingdom. The King and Princess were wed and started a family. As The World's Era was drawing to a close the Bachman King joined the 12 Houses of the Two Dollar or Less Store Illuminati in the commissioning of the Arcologies. On the eve of them being needed, the son of the Queen, the Gingerbread Man would arrive to see the Bachman King. 'The Ash' would be heralded, and the Princess and the children would need to be led to the Arcology before the doors could be sealed. The Gingerbread Man would escort the Princess and the children to the King and to their Arcology. This act of Heroism would cost him his life. He would die during Final Seal. This would not be forgotten. The Debts owed were not forgotten. The people lost their direct link to the Queen's family but the tales lived on.The lines of family and fate have survived unbroken. From the Central Tower the Derecho now sits as a newly acknowledged Potentate.Ruling over a Council of Consuls. Who in turn guide a series of Provinces trying to rebuild a broken world. And in the darkened hour the descendant son would be revealed to her people. The Gingerbread Son. The man who would be proven as The Winter Wolf. The beginning of a new cycle of rule, a new dawn. The Blue Sky Awaits
