Start reading Japanese through a story that becomes more familiar one step at a time.
A Place to Begin follows Maya through her first month in Midori Town. She settles into a new apartment, learns the way to work, completes city-hall forms, shops in the rain, meets her neighbors, and slowly turns an unfamiliar town into a place that feels like home.
Written for adult and older-teen learners at RN1 / Early N5 level, this graded reader includes:
- 10 connected Japanese stories
- Full furigana throughout learner-facing Japanese
- Natural English translations
- Preview vocabulary and words in context
- Sentence Lab examples and practical grammar notes
- Comprehension questions, rereading prompts, and cumulative reviews
- Access to an optional digital companion with Japanese audio and progress support
The printed book is complete on its own. Read in Japanese first, consult the support when needed, and build confidence through one continuous, practical story.
