A thoroughly entertaining look at love and tribalism in high school. Richard Scrimger, award-winning author of The Nose From Jupiter
A great read that I didn't want to put down until I finished. DL Nelson, author of the TCK Mysteries
At Tipton High, theatre is split; drama club ruled by the loner kids and choir ruled the popular kids. Having established herself as drama club queen, Leah Roy has two goals; #1 don't let those pretentious choir kids take over drama club and #2 . . . be just like them.
Leah's life may not be as royal as the choir kids, but she's determined to change her life for the better. That is, until Braden Gregory, the charismatic choir king, auditions for the drama club play.
When they are cast as leading roles, Braden will stop at nothing to pursue a skeptical Leah. Meanwhile, Leah finds mysterious letters buried under The Tree after school. She buries responding letters at The Tree, seeking guidance in the words of her lonely pen pal, Robert, whom she has never met.
Once Leah begins falling for Braden, she realizes that the choir kid life might not be as fabulous as she thought. Braden's comedic front conceals a rough life; one that she hopes Robert can help her understand.
Just when she accepts her growing feelings for Braden, she finds him unconscious in his van. Leah accepts it as an accident until the day Braden goes missing and Robert's letters cease. In fear of the worst written between the lines, Leah and her friends take off on a transformative road trip to the Deep South . . . but the clock is ticking. Will they find Braden before it's too late?
