Perfect Form follows Cheryl, a young artist who has a dream of an artwork so perfect it shouldn't exist. No line too thick or long, no shape out of place.
And in her quest to replicate what she saw, she realises reality must change to allow it to be possible. The final line moves in a direction that does not exist on the page-or anywhere within the three-dimensional world she understands. To complete the artwork, Cheryl must learn to perceive a new direction: one that is not left or right, up or down, forward or backward.
Her search leads her to question the limits of perception. If colour exists only as an experience in the mind, and if a two-dimensional surface cannot express every direction available in higher dimensions, then perhaps the impossible is only impossible from the perspective we currently occupy. Cheryl eventually learns to perceive and draw an entirely new direction-one that does not move left, right, up, down, forward or backward. In doing so, she creates the perfect form she had once seen in a dream and reveals that reality may contain dimensions and possibilities that ordinary perception simply cannot access.
Ultimately, Perfect Form is about the boundary between the impossible and the unperceived. Cheryl's discovery transforms from a private artistic breakthrough into evidence that humanity's understanding of reality is incomplete. The final revelation pushes the idea even further: beings from dimensions beyond our own may appear supernatural only because they can move through directions we cannot perceive. The book asks whether what we call impossible, divine or miraculous may simply belong to aspects of reality that exist beyond the limits of what human perception.Also in
