انقلاب مشروطه باعث شد طنز و شو خطبعی و هجو و هزل و مطایبه که تا پیش از آن در ادبیات ایران وجود داشت، هدف و کارکردی اجتماعی پیدا کند و طنز به معنای واقعی آن هم زمان با وقوع انقلاب مشروطه زاده شود. در واقع اگر بپذیریم صنعت چاپ از ی کسو و تشکیل مجامع اجتماعی از سوی دیگر مانند کنسر تها، اجتماعات مخفی و علنی و مجامع گوناگون، موجب ایجاد ارتباطات عمومی شد و ارتباط سینه به سینه را تبدیل به ارتباط رسان های کرد، همین امر موجب شد شاعران و نویسندگان و گویندگان به جای مخاطب قرار دادن اشراف یا نخبگان یا درباریان به گفت وگو با عامه مردم بپردازند. آنچه در توصیف این ادعا باید گفته شود این است که 1. تا پیش از انقلاب مشروطه طنز زمینه اجتماعی نداشت و به هدف اصلاح اجتماعی نزدیک نشده بود. 2. تا پیش از انقلاب مشروطه طنز برای عموم نوشته یا سروده نم یشد و مخاطب عام نداشت. آثاری مانند لطای فالطوایف که مهر تاریخ پیش از مشروطه بر پیشانی دارند، آثاری هستند که خواص نوشت هاند تا خواص بخوانند و تا پیش از صنعت چاپ هرگز در معرض چشم عامه قرار نگرفتند. یا حتی رساله تأدیب النسوان و معایب الرجال نوشته شد تا در میان شاهزادگان قجر خوانده شوند. 3. تا پیش از انقلاب مشروطه طنز ایرا&
