One day every pastor preaches his final sermon as the shepherd of a congregation.
For some, it is planned years in advance. For others, it comes unexpectedly through illness, changing circumstances, or the realization that a younger generation is ready to lead.
The sanctuary is the same.
The pulpit is the same.
For some, it is planned years in advance. For others, it comes unexpectedly through illness, changing circumstances, or the realization that a younger generation is ready to lead.
The sanctuary is the same.
The pulpit is the same.
The Bible is the same.
But something has changed.
The weekly schedule slows. The phone rings less often. Church meetings continue without you. Decisions are made by others. The title Pastor may still be spoken with affection, yet the responsibilities that once defined daily life have been laid aside.
In those quiet moments, many faithful servants ask, Lord, what will You have me to do now?
This book is God's reminder that His answer has never changed.
He is not finished with you.
Your influence has not ended.
Your wisdom is still needed.
Your prayers still move heaven.
Your testimony still strengthens the Church.
Your example still points younger believers toward Christ.
Scripture is filled with men and women whom God used mightily in the later seasons of life. Moses was eighty when God called him to lead Israel out of Egypt. Caleb declared at eighty-five, Give me this mountain. The Apostle John wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit while in exile. Anna worshiped, prayed, and proclaimed the coming Messiah in her advanced years.
The Kingdom of God has always depended upon faithful saints who refused to quit.
