Scraped and reshaped over several months, Evelyn's vigorous canvases fuse the physicality of action painting with a contemporary gestural language
The expansive, abstract canvases of London-based painter Pam Evelyn (born 1996) are richly textured meditations on nature, the body and materiality. Her intuitive use of oil paints--carefully layered, scraped and rearticulated over several months--recalls the seething vitality of Abstract Expressionist painters while retaining a distinctly contemporary quality.
