If you were to visit our society today from the 1940s you would experience first-hand how much pressure our personal freedoms are under. You can only imagine where we would be in the year 2040. There are no direct real life people in the story, it is fiction. The characters depicted are a composition of individuals encountered through the author's experiences and also contrived where necessary. The present time of the book, our alternate future will not definitely happen, but can happen if we let it.
