The Origin of Freemasonry: The 1717 Theory Exploded is a book written by Chalmers Izett Paton in 1871. The book explores the origins of Freemasonry, a fraternal organization that has been shrouded in mystery and secrecy for centuries. Paton challenges the commonly accepted theory that Freemasonry was founded in 1717 in London, and instead presents evidence that suggests the organization has much older roots. He delves into the history of Freemasonry, tracing its origins back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, and examining its influence on the development of Western civilization. The book also explores the symbolism and rituals of Freemasonry, and sheds light on the secretive nature of the organization. Overall, The Origin of Freemasonry is a fascinating read for anyone interested in the history and inner workings of this enigmatic organization. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
