ସାହିତ୍ୟିକଚେତନା ଉଭୟ ମୌଳିକ ଲେଖକ ଓ ସମାଲୋଚକଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକ । ଖାଲି ଏତିକି ନୁହେଁ, ଏହି ସାହିତ୍ୟିକ ଚେତନା ଏକ 'ପାଠ' ଓ 'ପାଠକ' ପାଇଁ ଅନୁରୂପ ଭାବରେ ଆବଶ୍ୟକ । ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି, ସମାଜ ଓ ସଂସ୍କୃତିର ଆଧାର ହେଉଛି ଏହି ସାହିତ୍ୟଚେତନା ବା ସାହିତ୍ୟିକ ଚେତନା । ଜଣେ ଦାର୍ଶନିକଠାରୁ ଆରମ୍ଭକରି ବୈଜ୍ଞାନିକ, ଗାର୍ହ୍ୟସ୍ଥ, ପାରିପାରିକ, ସାଂସାରିକ ମଣିଷଟିଏ ମଧ୍ୟ ଏହାର ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ଅନୁଭବ କରିଥାଏ । ଏହି ଚେତନା ସାଧାରଣତଃ ପାଞ୍ଚଗୋଟି ବିନ୍ଦୁରେ ସମାହିତ । ଯଥା -
(୧) ପାଠକୀୟ ଚେତନା ଏହା ପାଠକ/ଦର୍ଶକର ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଗତ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିକୋଣ, ଆବେଗ, ଅନୁଚିନ୍ତାବିଶେଷ ଅଟେ- ଯାହା ପାଠ/ଲେଖାଟିକୁ ପଢ଼ିଲାବେଳେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକାରୀ ହୁଏ ଓ ପ୍ରଭାବଶାଳୀ ହୋଇଥାଏ ।
(୨) ଲେଖକୀୟ ଚେତନା ଏହା ଲେଖକଠାରେ ଦେଖାଯାଏ । ଲେଖକର ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟ, ଅନୁଭୂତି, ପ୍ରତ୍ୟୟ ପ୍ରଭୃତି ମୂଲ୍ୟବୋଧଭିତ୍ତିକ ହୋଇ ଟେକ୍ସଟ୍ ବା ପାଠ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ପ୍ରତିଫଳିତ ହୋଇଥାଏ ।
(୩) ପାଠ୍ୟ ଚେତନା ଏହା ସେହି ସାହିତ୍ୟକୃତିର ଆଭ୍ୟନ୍ତରୀଣ ଗତିତତ୍ତ୍ୱ (ୟଚ୍ଚଦ୍ଭବଜ୍ଞସମଗ୍ଦ), ବୈଚିତ୍ର]୍ୟ, ସଂରଚନା, ବିରଚନା, ଭାଷା-ଶୈଳୀ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଅନ୍ତର୍ନିହିତ ।
(୪) ସାଂସ୍କୃତିକ ଚେତନା ସାମାଜିକ, ଐତିହାସିକ ଓ ସାଂସ୍କୃତିକ ପ୍ରସଙ୍ଗସବୁ ସାହିତ୍ୟକୃତିକୁ ପ୍ରଭାବିତ କରିଥାଏ । ଏହା ଏକ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କାରକ ହୋଇ ରହିଥାଏ । ପରୋକ୍ଷରେ ଏ ଚେତନା ଲେଖା ଓ ଲେଖକକୁ ପ୍ରଭାବିତ କରିଥାଏ ।
