Brad and Angelina were a transgender couple trying to live the best they could in a world that was utterly without hope. A global outbreak of unexplained infertility has resulted in no children being born in the last 15 years, leading the world to believe that human extinction is inevitable, with many actively embracing that inevitability as a good thing as a fundamentalist regime takes over the United States and sets up a theocracy.
