On a windy road, tucked in between lush forests and wide fields, is Kirklees Priory, a small monastery where nothing of importance ever happens. She soon learns she cannot rely on her feelings for Robert, for her free-spiritedness and his sense of morality blight the bond between them, and she finds herself torn between two very different lifestyles, in a kingdom that is quickly crumbling beneath her feet.
