Creepypastas are the urban legends of the modern age. Originating in obscure online forums at the turn of the millennium, the genre would skyrocket in popularity over the following two decades, inspiring countless short stories, novels, and even feature films that blur the lines between reality and fantasy.
Australia, with its vast, isolated expanses, centuries of campfire stories, and rich Indigenous folklore dating back tens of thousands of years, is a largely unexplored landscape within the genre, much to my personal disappointment. To paraphrase George Lucas; If what you want doesn't exist, make it yourself!
This book brings together twelve of my original r/NoSleep submissions which centre around unique Aussie locations and themes. Some are pure fiction. Some are directly inspired by my many childhood experiences growing up as a bush kid in a rural country town in North Queensland.
All of them are sure to leave you struggling to sleep. So grab yourself a warm cuppa, get nice and cozy, and let's explore the darker sides of this ancient land...
