Confident learning is all well and good, but only if it doesn't lead to arrogance or narrow-mindedness. Children should help one another not only within the class community, but cooperation and a willingness to help must also be the order of the day amongst teachers. No one can do everything to the same extent, so it is important to accept this in children too and offer them support. Teachers' role as role models should be recognised, and so it is important that teachers also work together and accept help, not only from colleagues but also from children. A new learning culture is necessary not only because of the wide variety of cultures, but - and above all - because of every individual who must be taken into consideration. When it comes to something as important as learning, the environment should be familiar and a foundation laid for lifelong learning. Veronika Stadlbauer.
