My Name is Marcia Torres. I'm the kind of girl most adults think of as sweet. My friend Charlie would say I'm also a bit of a mess. And that's before I decided to come out as gay in front of the entire freshman class. Now I'm starting to figure out just how crazy life can be. And how cruel. How funny life can be. And how frightening. How wild. And how wonderful. My name is Marcia. This is my story. Marcia's first year in high school off to a rough start. She just told her best friend Charlie that she's gay. She's meeting new friends and making new enemies. Now she's been targeted by a cyberbully just days before she has to give a speech in a school wide election. Marcia's solution? Give them a speech they'll never forget. Of course, Marcia quickly realizes, coming out is only the beginning.
