Murder in St. Clair County: The Candidate is riveting, especially given today's political climate in the US and around the world. When the Republican candidate for governor of the state of Alabama is murdered at a campaign rally, any number of perpetrators would come to mind; a political rival, a disgruntled constituent, or just a random mentally unstable person. Then when someone attempts to kill the governor, the investigation into finding the assassin becomes even more urgent. This whodunit encompasses a variety of characters, from the humble Homer Yancey, leader of Yancey Investigative Services, to Chief Hunt of the local police department, to FBI Special Agent Bill McBrayer. There's action, authentic details, and a variety of scenery. The story is delightful. There's a mix of levity, prayer, detail, and humor that keeps the reader turning the pages. The main character is Homer, an Appalachian native with a myriad of hilarious and common-sense sayings and local dialect that will make the reader literally laugh out loud. This book is recommended for Young Adult and Adult readers alike who are interested in detective stories and politics
