Opening night at the Carmine Playhouse ends with a killer curtain call.
Moon's Landing photographer Birdie Lopez is thrilled to be back on assignment, camera in hand, for the debut of a glittering new musical. But when the lights go out during the final bow, a stage light crashes down, and the woman beneath it is dead.
The victim is Thelma Burke, the understudy who had secretly taken the star's place. The police suspect an accident. Birdie isn't convinced. Why did Thelma step into the spotlight that night, and who knew she would be there?
With her best friend Blanche digging for the story and her coonhound Butterscotch following her nose, Birdie searches backstage for answers. Every new clue raises the stakes, and when someone throws a brick through Birdie's window, it's clear her questions have struck a nerve.
In a theater full of secrets, Birdie must expose the killer before the final curtain falls on her.
Murder by Musical is a warm, twisty Moon's Landing cozy mystery featuring a seaside town, theater intrigue, and one determined coonhound.
