Love The X-Files? Florida Man? My Name is Earl? Crazy characters? This hilarious, fast-paced paranormal series is for you! The weirdness of The X-Files, the humor of Bad Monkey, and the insanity of My Name is Earl collide to form Freaky Florida Investigations--a darkly humorous, wildly gonzo, semi-paranormal mystery series.
It's like Stephanie Plum got stuck inside an episode of The X-Files. Goofy. Weird. Spooky. Hilarious!Get shot by a weirdo in tiger-striped hotpants. Spot glowing red eyes atop the Stop-N-Shop. Interview the town's crazy lady about lewd phone calls from a robot. In Point Paradise, Florida, that's what Bobbie Drex calls a Thursday ... Trapped in a dead-end job in a dead-end town, Bobbie's even stuck wearing a dead man's shoes until a drunk-dial purchase, a fateful gunshot, and a chance encounter with a mysterious stranger send her life bulleting from mundane to insane in no time flat.
Growing up in backwoods Florida Bobbie has seen it all - from two-headed turtles to two-timing boyfriends. While her life of hard knocks has left her short on cash, she's still packing enough snark to give any whack-job a run for his money. But when a handsome weirdo arrives at her mechanic shop seeking repairs to his rundown RV, suddenly it's Bobbie who's in for a complete overhaul. Nick Grayson is harboring some big secrets. Like a Glock, a fake ID, and an impressive set of washboard abs. Broke, bored, and half bonkers from dealing with her annoying cousin Earl, Bobbie figures she might as well take a closer look at all three. What she's about to discover about Grayson will knock her little world totally off its Southern axis. * This series is hysterical. I absolutely love the characters. Guaranteed to make you laugh. And the mysteries aren't what you would expect.
* The storylines are crazy, and all you want is MORE!
* The perfect blend of The X-Files supernatural, Stephanie Plum wackiness, and Sandra Brown twists and turns. I'm on my third book!
* Not too scary or over-the-top paranormal. A truly fun read!
* Margaret Lashley has a knack for creating funny, small-town strange, off the wall, but so endearing type of characters.
* Funny, unpredictable, pure Florida weirdness served up on a hard-to-put-down platter.
* I have read Tim Dorsey, Carl Hiaasen, and Randy Wayne White. Those writers are funny but they need to watch out for Lashley.
