R/E broker Darcy Devereaux has just sold Matt McCord a house in Charlotte, and has reluctantly agreed to act as renovations contractor for his new purchase. In her wildest dreams she could not have imagined what perilous consequences this decision would have. Professor Papandrou, a revered Greek archaeological professor, has been murdered, and a priceless 40,000-year-old Nemhi figurine has been stolen. The Athens Police ask the CIA for help and agents Matt Chaney and Leeza Findlay are assigned to the case. They uncover a worldwide crime organization named ARES, larger and more malevolent than the Mafia. Their investigation takes them too close to the truth and the two agents are captured and taken to Scaurikk, a remote Mediterranean island near Greece controlled by Gustav Longhren, head of ARES. Longhren, who clashed with Matt in the past, has vowed vengeance against the agent. The resultant happenings that include three hundred captive Chinese, the CIA, the FBI, a budding romance, and the U.S. Marines will keep you turning the pages and cheering at a very unexpected conclusion. KIRKUS REVIEW: In this romantic thriller Huntington pits two CIA agents against an international smuggling cartel. The villains are entertainingly bombastic, as well.
