Miss Mary Moogles is a wonderful, whimsical, super-duperkind, grandma-type lady. She lives in a little, tiny town in a little, tiny house that is filled to the brim most of the time with children. And tulips. And a gi-normous dog named Penny. With no Wi-Fi and no video games in the tiny house, children who visit Miss Mary Moogles enter an old fashioned, unplugged world which they can fill with their own noisy and busy imaginations. This can take a little getting used to!
Maisey is new around here and her best friend seems to be hervery own self. A s'
elf-proclaimed selfie expert, Maisey spends her time in the virtual world of her cell phone screen. She cannot, absolutely and surely cannot, decide which of her selfies is her very best selfie. So, she just takes more. And more. But, in one tumbling, watery, kerplunky accident, her cell phone is rendered useless! Can she find happiness and her special crown in a place filled with actual people? She seriously doubts it.
Miss Mary Moogles is a read-aloud or strong Young Readers chapter book. Breaking the fourth wall from time to time in Miss Mary Moogles, the author speaks to the readers directly to fully engage them and to take them by the hand as they enter the home of a new friend. A soft blanket in today's harsh, fast-paced, plugged-in, all-about-me culture, Miss Mary Moogles, through back in the day life experiences, gently teaches readers to see each other and learn from each other as they earn special crowns along the way. Miss Mary Moogles, in her little, tiny house, creates a soft place for children to land. And a solid place for them to take off from.
