What do you see when you look closely?
When MeMe first meets Tuffie, the tiny calico cat doesn't seem interested in friendship at all. Tuffie sits alone, watching the world carefully, her guard up and her feelings hidden behind quiet eyes.
MeMe isn't sure what to think at first.
Is Tuffie angry?
Is she scared?
Or is there more to the story?
Through patient observation, kindness, and time, MeMe and JJ begin to understand something important: sometimes the strongest hearts are the ones that have had to protect themselves the longest.
Inspired by real rescue pets, MeMe Memory: The Day I Met Tuffie invites young readers to slow down, look closely, and discover how empathy grows when we learn to observe before we judge.
This heartwarming story introduces children to the early ideas behind the VNEC Model (Visual Narrative Emotional Comprehension)-helping young readers recognize emotional cues, build empathy, and understand that healing often begins with patience.
Tuffie may look tough at first...
but every heart deserves a chance to feel safe.
