Ana and Julia live with their parents in southern Chile. The turbulent times of the dictatorship force them to live in hiding, in a very personal universe where they surround themselves with elves, dwarves, false names and the magic and care of adults. Their father drew everything that came to mind, from a man with bird claws to a rabbit with a mane or ants in swimsuits; their mother made maps and tore up letters hidden in the bathroom. As reality catches up with them, their childhood cousins fade away.
Through Ana's endearing voice, we journey through these chiaroscuros where bullets and violence are confused with games and fantasy until events cross those boundaries and her life changes forever.
