My Dear Journey, Story of a Caregiver is the story of faith in God and the challenges of love, when life detours into uncertainties. This story is about Deborah and the journey she travelled while taking care of her parents who suffered from Dementia and other illnesses. The book walks the reader through the last years of her stepdad Allen and her mother who is affectionally called Dear. As a reader you will experience many of the frustrations, challenges, victories, heartbreaks and uncompromised love that comes with being a caregiver. As a caregiver Deborah faced, the pressure of doctors, pressures of making right decisions and the pressure of death. You will understand her heart's motive for every decision she makes and why she went to war on her parent's behalf.
This is not just one person's story, According to caregivers.org there are approximately 39.8 caregivers in the United States. The numbers continue to increase as people or fall victim to sickness and disease. Many of the caregivers are not being paid as professionals. They care for their loved ones for no other reason than LOVE.
