Book two. Once a child knows the vowels and the consonants, this is what comes next - every consonant joined to every vowel, one family at a time.
- All 216 உயிர்மெய் letters, grouped into the eighteen consonant families - க, ங, ச, ஞ, ட, ண, த, ந, ப, ம, ய, ர, ல, வ, ழ, ள, ற, ன.
- Three pages for every family - see the twelve forms, trace them, then write them yourself.
- A picture to colour at the end of each family.
- See - all twelve forms on one page, outlined for finger-tracing, each showing the rule that makes it: க் + ஆ = கா.
- Trace - a row of boxes for every letter: one shaded model, one faint letter to write over, then three empty boxes.
- Write - a full grid of empty boxes, then a picture to colour.
Tamil is not written along an English four-line baseline. Every practice page in this book uses the grid of boxes that Tamil children actually learn in, sized so that even the widest compound letter fits.
Every letter checkedAll 216 letters are composed in software from their consonant and their vowel sign, so not one of them can be mistyped. Every combination is shown the way Tamil teaches it - மெய் + உயிர் = உயிர்மெய் - not as a typing shortcut.
