Time and space, the continuum that we know as life, is the device that moves us all around the clock and around the world, in one lifetime and in many. It is the game of Musical Chairs that we cannot stop playing. One day we open our eyes and we say, to our surprise, Why, here I am, a parent, and another day we look into our eyes in the mirror and we say, Why, here I am, my grandfather. We gasp our last breath and rotate into Heaven and then one bright morning we grasp the finger of our new mother with our chubby baby fingers. Here we are poor, this time rich; now I am slaughtered on the battlefield by the army that I was part of in my last lifetime.
Around and around it goes.
It may be the karmic wheel or the cycle of life. It may be the spin of the Earth or its revolution around the sun. It may be the winter and the spring, the grammar school and the college.
Around and around we go.
The Circle of Love is composed of those Heavenside and one stake in the ground, as they speak of it, on the Earth, that keeps them tethered to the world they knew. Heaven and Earth may be the broken links, separated by the dark curtain where memory is lost in space, or it may be the Circle of Love.
When we take the time, all of us, to listen to the stories and the points of views of others, and to share our own, with honesty and integrity, we find that our journey through the cycles of life is eased by access to the comradery of humanity. When we embrace our own part in the Circle of Love as friends and neighbors, wherever we may be, there are no more broken links in the miraculous necklace of life.
