Music Is My Life is a memoir written by Adella Prentiss Hughes, an influential figure in the music world during the early 20th century. The book chronicles her life and career as a musician, educator, and philanthropist. Hughes was born in 1869 in Ohio and began playing the piano at a young age. She went on to study music at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and later became a teacher there. In 1904, she founded the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, which became one of the most respected orchestras in the country. Throughout her career, Hughes was passionate about promoting music education and supporting young musicians. She established the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the National Federation of Music Clubs, which provided opportunities for musicians to perform and compete. Music Is My Life is a fascinating account of Hughes' life and the impact she had on the music world. It includes personal anecdotes, insights into the music industry, and reflections on the importance of music in society. The book is a must-read for anyone interested in music history, education, and philanthropy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
