Neepin Auger's Discovering People uses colourful illustrations and familiar social concepts to introduce preschool children to words for people in three languages. English, French and Plains Cree appear together, allowing readers to compare vocabulary while connecting each word with recognizable relationships and everyday experience.
The book gives Indigenous-language learning the same visual space as two widely used Canadian languages and includes pronunciation support for adults and children who may be new to Plains Cree. The people and family focus creates natural opportunities for conversation, naming and repetition during shared reading.
This paperback edition is designed for children ages 3-5 and is suited to families, preschools, libraries, classrooms and Indigenous-language education.
