DENNIS MAKISHIMA is the epitome of omoshiroi. This Japanese term translates into a spectrum of words in English, all at once embodying Dennis' life and times: Amusing, entertaining, fascinating, and funny.
As a sansei (third-generation Japanese American), Dennis was born into the baby boomer era and is a Vietnam veteran. He is a bonsai sensei (master) and trailblazing aesthetic pruner, in practice for over four decades. He also emerged as an early advocate for the farm-to-table produce movement.
A true maverick, Dennis dares to zig when others zag. He crafts an extraordinary and authentic life each day through strategic defiance of conventional norms and expectations of success. Throughout his journey, Dennis nurtures worldwide relationships that put into motion trajectories placing him at incredible crossroads, both historical and personal.
