Mostellaria or The Haunted House is a play written by the ancient Roman playwright Plautus. The story revolves around the character of Philolaches, a young man who has spent all his father's money on a courtesan named Philematium. When his father unexpectedly returns from a trip, Philolaches enlists the help of his slave Tranio to hide Philematium and her belongings in a nearby haunted house. Chaos ensues as Philolaches and Tranio try to keep their secret hidden while dealing with the various characters who come in and out of the haunted house.
