Miss Lulu Bett is a novel by Zona Gale that was first published in 1920. The story follows the life of Lulu Bett, a spinster who lives with her sister and her sister's family in a small town in the Midwest. Lulu is unhappy with her life and feels trapped in her role as a caregiver to her sister's children. However, her life takes a turn when her brother-in-law's brother, Ninian Deacon, comes to visit and takes an interest in her. Lulu and Ninian fall in love and decide to get married, but their plans are complicated by the interference of Lulu's family. The novel explores themes of gender roles, family dynamics, and the search for personal fulfillment. It was highly acclaimed upon its release and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1921.1920.
