Miles Wallingford is a novel written by James Fenimore Cooper, first published in 1844. It is the sequel to Cooper's previous novel, Afloat and Ashore, and continues the story of Miles Wallingford, a young man who sets out to make his fortune at sea.The novel takes place in the early 19th century and follows Miles as he travels from New York to England, where he hopes to find work as a sailor. Along the way, he encounters a variety of challenges and adventures, including shipwrecks, mutinies, and encounters with pirates. As Miles progresses in his career, he becomes increasingly disillusioned with the harsh realities of life at sea and begins to question his own values and beliefs. He also becomes embroiled in a romantic triangle with two women, leading to further complications and conflicts.Throughout the novel, Cooper explores themes of ambition, loyalty, and honor, as well as the dangers and rewards of life at sea. The book is considered a classic of American literature and a notable example of the sea adventure genre.Sequel to Afloat and Ashore. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
