This collection of short stories is an eclectic ensemble of characters and places. In Writing & All That Stuff, I ask myself the very question: Why do I write? All writers are influenced by life's experiences, and in disguised, subtle or not-so-subtle ways, they creep into our writing. Several of these stories Midnight Express, Scent of Lavender, Hair on Fire, and The Little Girl Who Loved Me, reflect the powerful influence of Africa, where I spent ten years as a missionary and when I began to discover who I really was. I first fell in love with France as a teenager, then spent a year absorbing its culture and, of course its food. But I was also captivated by its history and especially it's self-determination while under the Nazi occupation; Assignment France.and Henriette. I spent fifteen months in Spain where, and with the help of a wonderful companion from Madrid, discovered a land of great poets and painters, the Alhambra, and authentic flamenco dancing; A Stranger in Spain. My deep Irish heritage is reflected in The Open Door and The Three Loves of Joe Cronin. A more serious topic of racism and segregation underpins the romance in Colourblind 1 & 2. But it is also based on a true story. Prepare your cup of coffee or a glass of wine, sit back, relax and let me transport you to places where chance encounters change lives, where quiet moments carry unexpected weight, and where every story lingers a little longer than you expect...Just turn the page
