The young boy Gilbert thinks he is the only one with the finding a true friendship dilemma, but there comes a new student from the elite side of neighborhood, rich, wealthy and has all that can attract the eye. He too can never tell who truly wants to be his friend and not because of his last name... Montgomery...and all they can get from him.
Events happen in their last school semester before Christmas holiday, that changes many opinions about Gilbert, because one of his bullies, who is also a spoilt brat and head cheerleader, gets attacked in the night and it so happens, that Gilbert the school loony, is the one who comes to her rescue. This shakes the belief system of many in school, which brings with it a new beginning and new perspective on true friendship among the young students.
