In a city being smoothed by the Shadow Syndicate, history is edited, streets forget their names, and people mislay the moments that made them. Cyrus is a quiet observer who notices the gaps. Amara, a street musician with a battered violin, can cut through the Syndicate's Choir with sound that refuses to obey. Above them sit Laila, who designed the Choir and is starting to listen more than she obeys, and Lucifer, who believes elegance can tame a city. The Syndicate wants a clean narrative; the rebels fight for rough edges-misaligned clocks, stubborn jokes, songs that won't stay in tune-because continuity lives there.
