In the spirit of Orwell's 1984 and Rand's Atlas Shrugged, but written with the style and wit of Vonnegut, Eidam offers a humorous and thought-provoking cautionary tale against trading away our freedom to the nanny-state, and asks if it's possible for mankind to become so dependent, we lose the ability to live free. You'll laugh, you'll think, and you'll wonder bitterly at how much of this tale, published in 2016, has already come to pass... and why didn't we see it coming.
A virus is tearing across the globe and President Poll's advisers tell him there is no way to stop it from wiping out all of mankind. So he and his D.C. cronies lock themselves a survival shelter-not to save themselves, of course, but to selflessly preserve humanity. And while he's bummed out about the apocalypse, the President is excited about the opportunity to rebuild the world without any Republicans. But the joke is on the President. Because while he's trapped in a bubble, a mysterious recluse develops a treatment that will save mankind from extinction. Unwilling to reveal his identity, the recluse enlists his delivery boy, a sixteen-year-old social reject named Clyde Sexler, to be the face of mankind's survival. But Clyde soon discovers the power and glory isn't all it's cracked up to be, and he finds himself torn between this mad genius trying to save mankind and the people-who resist him at every turn. Also from
