Did Mary have other children after Jesus? Many biblical scholars believe she did. What would it be like to parent the Son of God equally with his brothers and sisters? Would it be possible not to show favoritism? And what about sibling rivalry? How could any child compete with perfection? In short, how does anyone cope with perfection?Mary at Midnight speculates on all of these questions. Set in 64 A.D., thirty years after Jesus' crucifixion, Mary comes home to Nazareth, accompanied by her memories, griefs, and unfinished business. During one long Passover day, she relives some of the most profound times of her life, confronts her personal failures, and contends for the faith to which she has given her life.
