The Martyrdom of Polycarp is a book written by Kirsopp Lake that recounts the story of Polycarp, a bishop of Smyrna in the early Christian church, who was martyred for his faith in the year 155 AD. The book is based on an ancient Greek manuscript that describes the events leading up to Polycarp's death, including his arrest, trial, and execution by burning. The text also includes several letters written by Polycarp and other early Christian leaders, providing insight into the beliefs and practices of the early church. The Martyrdom of Polycarp is considered an important historical document for scholars of early Christianity and provides a glimpse into the lives of early Christian martyrs who were willing to die for their faith.THIS 46 PAGE ARTICLE WAS EXTRACTED FROM THE BOOK: The Apostolic Fathers V2, by Kirsopp Lake.
