Mârouf, The Cobbler of Cairo is a comedic opera in five acts by Henri Rabaud, based on the Arabian Nights tale and translated by J.C. Mardrus. This edition presents the complete vocal score for performance and study.
Set in Cairo, the opera follows the adventures of Mârouf, a cobbler who, through wit and fortune, rises above his humble beginnings. The story is filled with humor, exotic settings, and memorable musical moments, capturing the charm and magic of the Arabian Nights.
First performed in 1914, Mârouf quickly gained popularity for its accessible melodies and engaging storyline. This edition allows modern audiences to rediscover Rabaud's delightful opera and experience the timeless appeal of this Arabian Nights fantasy.
