Every morning, the man in Room 9 leaves before sunrise carrying flowers. Every evening, he brings them back.
Lila Hart has spent six years keeping the Roadhush Motel alive-repairing what breaks, welcoming travellers who need somewhere quiet to stop, and postponing every dream that might take her beyond the Arizona highway.
Now an offer could erase the motel's debts and give her the freedom she once wanted. She only has until the end of October to decide.
Then Jonah Vale checks into Room 9.
He pays cash for a month, carries an old paper map marked with mysterious circles, and asks for nothing except privacy. But Jonah notices everything Lila has learned to overlook: the broken sign, the abandoned swimming pool, the camera gathering dust-and the life she may be giving up too easily.
Lila knows he is hiding something. She also knows he will eventually leave.
But as small repairs become quiet conversations and professional distance begins to disappear, Room 9 starts changing both of them in ways neither expected.
A tender, slow-burning romance about loss, second chances, and finding home in the place you only meant to stay for a while.
