This biography recounts the life and career of Madame Vigée Le Brun, a prominent French portrait painter, particularly known for her association with Queen Marie Antoinette and the French royal court. Celebrated for her artistic talent and charm, she achieved international recognition and painted portraits of many European aristocrats and members of royal families.
The book details her early life, artistic training, and rise to fame, as well as the challenges she faced during the French Revolution, which forced her into exile. It offers insights into her relationships with influential figures of her time and explores her legacy as one of the most successful and admired female artists of the 18th century. This is a valuable resource for anyone interested in art history, the lives of female artists, and the cultural landscape of pre-revolutionary France.
