Mackenzie's Memorials of the Siege of Derry is a historical account of the 105-day siege of Derry that took place in 1689 during the Williamite War in Ireland. The book is written by John Mackenzie, who was a participant in the siege and served as a captain in the defending army. The book is divided into two parts: the first part is Mackenzie's personal narrative of the siege, and the second part is a vindication of his account against the criticisms of other writers. The book provides a detailed and vivid description of the siege, including the events leading up to it, the preparations made by the defenders, and the various battles and skirmishes that took place. Mackenzie also gives an account of the suffering and hardships endured by the people of Derry during the siege, including starvation and disease. The second part of the book is a response to the criticisms of other writers who had disputed Mackenzie's account of the siege. Mackenzie provides evidence and arguments to support his version of events and to refute the claims of his critics.Overall, Mackenzie's Memorials of the Siege of Derry is an important historical account of a significant event in Irish and British history. It provides a valuable firsthand perspective on the siege and its impact on the people of Derry. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
