That happened when the ranchers in the Hollows in south Texas received an offer to buy 1,000 mix-cmade sense to create a herd of 3,000 longhorns for sale. The community decided to gather the animals from the various owners. At a dinner party, the people of The Hollows accepted the challenge. They agreed to providing cowboys from their employees and themselves to use the Western Trail for 800 miles to Dodge City. The dangers expected were weather, renegade Indians and rustlers.They met all those problems and many other challenges but did arrive at Dodge City. The successful sales of the longhorns brought in more money than expected. That in itself, created the biggest challenge; getting themselves and the money back to The Hollows.
